Director-General of the Department of International Economic Affairs met Mekong Institute Executive Director to discuss how to advance cooperation in the Mekong subregion
On 18 September 2026, Ms. Rujikorn Saengchantr, Director-General of the Department of International Economic Affairs, met with Dr. Anoulak Kittikhoun on the occasion of his assumption of office as the Seventh Executive Director of the Mekong Institute (MI).
Both sides discussed potential areas of cooperation to further strengthen the Ayeyawady - Chao Phraya - Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) as a key platform for subregional cooperation and drive the development of a more connected and sustainable Mekong subregion, including addressing shared challenges such as water resource and quality management, transboundary haze, and transnational crimes. Additionally, the two sides discussed ways to enhance the role of MI in providing academic and technical expertise and supporting cooperation at both the subregional and regional levels, in particular supporting the ACMECS Interim Secretariat under the Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand.

เมื่อวันที่ 18 กันยายน 2569 นางสาวรุจิกร แสงจันทร์ อธิบดีกรมเศรษฐกิจระหว่างประเทศ ได้พบหารือกับ ดร. อนุรักษ์ กิตติคุณ ในโอกาสเข้ารับตำแหน่งผู้อำนวยการบริหารสถาบันความร่วมมือเพื่อพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจลุ่มน้ำโขง (Mekong Institute: MI)
โดยทั้งสองฝ่ายได้แลกเปลี่ยนมุมมองเกี่ยวกับแนวทางการส่งเสริมความร่วมมือในอนุภูมิภาคลุ่มน้ำโขง โดยเฉพาะภายใต้กรอบยุทธศาสตร์ความร่วมมือทางเศรษฐกิจอิรวดี-เจ้าพระยา-แม่โขง (Ayeyawady – Chao Phraya – Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy: ACMECS) เพื่อสนับสนุนการพัฒนาอนุภูมิภาคลุ่มน้ำโขงให้มีความเชื่อมโยง ยั่งยืน และสามารถรับมือกับความท้าทายของอนุภูมิภาค เช่น การบริหารจัดการทรัพยากรและคุณภาพน้ำ ปัญหามลพิษทางอากาศและหมอกควันข้ามพรมแดน และอาชญากรรมข้ามชาติ นอกจากนี้ ทั้งสองฝ่ายยังได้แลกเปลี่ยนข้อคิดเห็นเกี่ยวกับแนวทางการเสริมสร้างบทบาทและความสำคัญในเชิงยุทธศาสตร์ของ MI เพื่อสนับสนุนข้อมูลเชิงวิชาการและการดำเนินความร่วมมือต่าง ๆ ในกรอบอนุภูมิภาคและภูมิภาค รวมถึงการสนับสนุนสำนักงานเลขาธิการชั่วคราว ACMECS ภายใต้กรอบบันทึกความเข้าใจกับกระทรวงการต่างประเทศ
