Calendar of Events Below is a list of major ACMECS Meetings:
1. Senior Officials Meeting
(15 July 2003, Vientiane, Lao PDR) - The Economic Cooperation Strategy concept and principles were discussed. 2. Informal Senior Officials Meeting (31 July 2003, Bangkok, Thailand) - The ECS concept and principles were completely prepared for the Foreign Ministers Meeting. 3. Foreign Ministers Meeting (1 August 2003, Bangkok, Thailand)
- Five priority areas of cooperation were identified and the Meeting instructed that a Working Group be set up to prepare a plan of action consisting of common projects and bilateral projects to be submitted to the Summit.
4. Economic Cooperation Strategy Working Group Meeting (27 August 2003, Siem Reap, Cambodia) - A draft Plan of Action was prepared. 5. Economic Cooperation Strategy Workshop (30 September - 1 October 2003, Bangkok, Thailand) - Common and bilateral project proposals were prepared under the draft Plan of Action. 6. Trade/Economic Ministers’ Meeting
(27 October 2003, Bangkok, Thailand)
- Trade and investment facilitation measures were discussed. 7. Senior Officials’ Meeting, Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, and the First Summit (SOM and MM - 10 November 2003, Yangon and the 1st Summit - 12 November 2003, Bagan, Myanmar). - On 12 November 2003, Leaders adopted the Bagan Declaration and the Economic Cooperation Strategy Plan of Action. The Meeting agreed to rename ECS with ACMECS- - - 10 May 2004 Vietnam became a member of ACMECS - - - 8. The ACMECS Workshop on Enhancing the Competitiveness of the Planning Agencies in Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Thailand
(3 – 5 June 2004, Pattaya, Cholburi Province, Thailand)
- ACMECS common and bilateral projects were reviewed the progress, capacity building and communication among officials from ACMECS countries (Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam) were discussed. 9. The 3rd Senior Officials’ Meeting (19 August 2004, Yangon, Myanmar) - Thailand informed the Meeting about the country’s Subcommittee on Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation, chaired by Minister of Foreign Affairs, which works as Thailand’s mechanism for ACMECS (Thailand’s ACMECS Organization Chart is attached) - The Meeting agreed that each member country would establish the mechanism for ACMECS and report to the Ministerial Retreat early November 2004 at Krabi Province. - The Meeting agreed with Thailand’s proposal to host the ACMECS Special SOM and Ministerial Retreat during 1-3 November 2004 at Krabi Province. All the member countries had no objection to the special session meeting between development partners and ACMECS member countries. 10. The ACMECS Special SOM, Ministerial Retreat and Special Sessions between development partners (Australia, France, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, the Asian Development Bank) and ACMECS Senior Officials / Foreign Ministers.

- ACMECS projects and ways to advance cooperation on the projects are to be discussed among ACMECS member countries and development partners. 11.
